Ye Ji Jung

Ye Ji Jung is an emerging artist based in Austin, Texas, graduating with a BA in Studio Art from The University of Texas at Austin in 2024. During undergrad, she took interest in ceramics, mixed media, and early experiments in sculpture, yet her practice has shifted as she steps beyond the structure of classroom assignments and into the open, uncertain terrain of making on her own terms.

Much of Ye Ji's early work centered on identity and the tension between presence and

concealment. As her practice evolves, it has become increasingly rooted in the body: its

sensations, reactions, hesitations, and impulses. She is learning to pay attention to the somatic language of creating: how her hands respond to clay, how her breathing changes when she shifts colors, how the weight of a gesture lingers long after the movement ends. These embodied cues guide the direction of her work far more than concept alone, creating space for viewers to pause, feel, and recognize something familiar within their own bodies.

As Ye Ji continues navigating the gallery world and developing her studio practice, she approaches artmaking as an act of listening.

Movement. Rhythm. Intuition.

Embodying process rather than destination, Ye Ji aims to offer points of connection through the nonverbal communication of visual expression.
